Affordable housing is a scarcity in Park City. With help from Mountainlands Community Housing Trust (MCHT), a non-profit assisting underserved populations find housing, a new set of buildings has risen near town. These units will be sold at a below-market rate in order to allow people in town to get into homeownership, a difficult task in this resort area.
This multifamily building, located in a new community being developed with many affordable and attainable housing options, has 32 two-bedroom units. Three additional residential buildings are under construction, which will bring more than 100 units into the fold.
The stigma of affordable housing usually brings to mind unattractive and inexpensive properties. Through careful selection of materials, an integrated design, and a great construction relationship with the contractor (Pentalon & MCHT), style was not sacrificed to allow for equitable homeownership in this residential architectural design.
